The 5th Annual

Poseidon’s Parade

Come one, come all to the Poseidon's Parade! The Parade is a family-friendly art parade held annually on the boardwalk in Rockaway Beach, Queens, NYC. Organized by the Rockaway Mermaid Brigade, and supported by the Rockaway community. It is our goal to celebrate creative self-expression with everyone who walks along the shores of Rockaway Beach and beyond.

The Day’s Events

A Day Of Fun And Fantasy By The Sea

Poseidon’s Parade steps off at Noon from the 106th Street concessions (Caracas). Marchers should arrive between 10am and 11:30am to check-in and line up, and enjoy some live music before the parade begins. The parade continues from 106th all the way down to 95th street, where a DJ and other activities will be taking place all afternoon. The judges stands are at 98th street, be sure to face ocean-side and give them your best, you could win an award!

The parade is 100% free for spectators, so come on down and enjoy a beautiful late summer day on the boardwalk, it’s a sight to see!

Information for Participants

The Parade is free for spectators. For those wishing to march in the parade, we charge a small fee. For individual marchers (this includes groups, just let us know your group name), it’s $5 to participate. For push-pull floats (motorized vehicles are prohibited on the boardwalk) the fee is $30 and includes 5 individuals for that fee. Poseidon’s Parade is a not-for-profit organization, all fees go towards supporting the parade operations.

Individuals, Groups, pets, and bicycles

Individual marchers, groups without a float, pet owners, and bicycles should register with individual registration. If you are part of a group, just make sure you fill in which group you’re with in the space provided. Same goes if you’re in a group with a float, but registering on your own. Cost: $5

Push-Pull Floats

Push-pull float registration includes 5 marchers. If you have more marchers joining you but registering on their own, make sure they know the name of your float group so we know who they’re with. When planning your float, keep in mind that the boardwalk gets narrow in some places. Motorized vehicles are prohibited on the boardwalk. Cost: $30

As always, the parade is free to attend for all people of all ages. We can’t wait to see you there!

Rockaway Beach Boardwalk

The inaugural parade was held on the newly rebuilt Rockaway Beach boardwalk in September 2015. As the boardwalk grows and the community around it thrives, so has the parade, with thousands of attendees and dozens of creative marchers of all ages celebrating live on the beach.

The world always seems brighter when you’ve just made something that wasn’t there before.
